I live in Chicago. There are more things to know about me. Like, for example, I can eat a lot of pizza.

I need a roommate.

I have a pretty and large 2-BR apartment in Ravenswood that I totally don’t want to give up in September. I think I’m pretty easy to live with, too. Any Chicagays know anyone who wants to live with me?

LIVE WITH ME.

Customers, on a street performing friend:

  • 1: She just took her hat off, set it down, and started dance.
  • 2: Oh, that's weird!
  • 1: And the catch is, she's not a dancer!

Simultaneously annoyed and relieved.

My friend from forever is in town and didn’t tell me even though I was kind of in his wedding less than a year ago. I mean, I’m obviously hurt that he no longer thinks he’d want to make an effort to see me even though he’s in my city…but I’m also super-relieved that I don’t have to pretend like we still have as much in common as we did when we were 8 and maybe he was just acknowledging that by not acknowledging our proximity.

Damn right I’ll treat this like my middle school livejournal when I feel like it. Feelings are complicated and sometimes I just need to talk about them, ok?!

A couple of messianic Jews on the red line.

They came complete with t-shirts proclaiming their religion (“How can you be Jewish AND believe in Jesus? Ask me!”). I used to mock this, but then I realized that it’s not much more silly than most organized religions.

There was a man on the red line this morning who had the most amazing pants.

They were like (beautiful) mullet pants. The entire front and bottom six inches of the back were khakis, but the back was a deep blue denim. This pair of Frankenpants was truly a sight to behold and inspired jealousy (and a little lust) in me. Were I wearing that perfectly partitioned pair no one would know I’m not all business (provided they never saw me walk away). I tried desperately to discreetly digitally document those half-denim/half-Dockers, but our time together was too short. One day, I’ll find those pants again.

TV producers scout Boystown for reality show →

There are just so many things I hate about this.

“When you say ‘Boystown,’ you know exactly where that is in America,” casting producer Shannon McIntosh said at Scarlet Friday night. In reality TV, “we’re so over L.A.,” she added.

“We want to encourage young viewers to identify with the cast,” McIntosh said. “And Chicago has the diverse, relatable back stories we’re looking for. We want to know about the young gays moving to the big city to come out … and find someone going through a transition to become a woman, [for example].”
